  • eBay scammers target iPhone fans

    People, people, people. The phone's not shipping yet. It's not out yet. It's not even approved by the FCC! So why -- why on earth -- would anyone with the slightest degree of common sense bid almost one thousand dollars on eBay just for the privilege of getting ripped off? Wow.

    Three auctions for iPhones from the same single seller... shame on you, rgonzales23455; no wonder you've got no feedback. "Please note: I have 6 of these phones available for immediate shipping.. I accept Paypal only for this auction.. Free shipping via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.. Will ship immediately after payment clears Monday - Friday." Uh-huh, sure you will. These auctions close soon, folks, get your bids in now -- NOT.

  • TUAW Tip: Pixadex can set icons as iChat user pictures

    Pixadex from Panic and The Iconfactory is truly the iPhoto for icon junkies; it allows you to organize icons into sets, preview them in virtually any size and even turn regular images into icons with a simple drag and drop. One of its coolest features, however, especially for the iChat junkies in the crowd, is the ability to turn any icon into one's iChat user picture from a right click contextual menu. After a short delay, the icon should appear atop your buddy list in the image well, but be warned: iChat won't remember the pic in the popup menu that is accessible from clicking that image well, but you can simply drag and drop the icon up there to give it a home amongst your other selections.

  • WWDC '07 sessions reveal focus on enterprise and switching developers

    We reported earlier today that Apple has released the session schedules for WWDC '07, which will take place in San Francisco June 11-15. An analysis of the schedule from Joe Wilcox at eWeek's Microsoft Watch, however, has revealed some interesting tidbits on exactly what Apple has in store for their audience, which includes an estimated 1/3 who will be entirely new to the Mac. Particularly noteworthy is "Immersion Monday" which is entirely focused on introducing new developers, especially Windows devs, to the Mac platform. Another interesting area of focus that is apparently new to WWDC is on the enterprise, as Apple seems to be coming on strong with an entire track of Information Technology sessions and labs aimed at system admins, IT managers and content production professionals.

    Put another way: it sounds like Apple is going to be firing on all cylinders like many have been expecting. Perhaps even with a few iCylinders we aren't expecting (ba-dum-ching!).

  • Apple Store to open in Rome

    Website MacScoop discovered that Apple will open a store in Rome later this month, the 31st of March at 9:00 AM. The first 1000 visitors will receive a free Apple T-Shirt because you know those Italians, they're really big on wearing free T-Shirts...not! Even though Italian society continues to change, as far as I can tell from a sampling of relatives, the Buon' affare-ness of the free offer will almost certainly be offset by their complete disdain for the brutto figuro brutta figura[1] of the T-Shirts. Remember: It's more important to look good than to feel good!
