There's a curious meme on the web today: how to clean your MacBook effectively. Over at MacApper, Josh Holloway has apparently discovered (via InsanelyMac) that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is the key to black Mac nirvana. And in an apparently unrelated post over at the FreeMacBlog Brian Stucki has determined that the white MacBook needs the tender loving care of Glass Plus Wipes. DockArt is a nice little iTunes plugin that does something simple, and does it well. When installed it will change the iTunes icon in your dock to the album art of the currently playing track (assuming of course that it has album art). The developer is on the ball and recently released an updated version for iTunes 7.

I'm not a basketball fan, but I know that March Madness fever is sweeping the nation. Many folks are creating office pools for a little harmless wagering, and Office Pool 2007 makes it much easier to keep track of who is in, and how they are doing. It has a number of very cool features (FTP, a PHP based web wizard) though it lacks the polish that many Mac users are used to (though it is cross platform). A single user license costs $25 (if you use PayPal) while a company wide license costs $50.

We've mentioned the "Getting Things Done" application Actiontastic several times on its road to 1.0, but today the developer announced that he has decided to make the application free and open source (instead of $29 shareware, as originally planned). To that end, he has released a new version today for free download (0.9.3), with the source code to follow "when the overhead of a new team won't crush the project under its own weight." He also notes that the forthcoming web-based GTD application Actionatr will also be open source, though a commercial version also is planned.
It was my sense that the GTD space was getting a little bit crowded with Ghost Action, the forthcoming OmniFocus, and many more, so this could turn out to be a really good decision for Actiontastic, particularly if it acquires a significant team behind it.
