- ScriptExport: iPhoto Plugin Allows Shell Script Manipulation

Today is apparently iPhoto export plugin day as in addition to the Facebook iPhoto plugin and updated FlickrExport plugin mentioned earlier, John Gruber at Daring Fireball brings our attention to ScriptExport from Nathaniel Gray. ScriptExport "allows you to 'export' your iPhoto pictures and movies by processing them with shell script." A script can can be done either at the start of the export, on a per item basis, or at the end of the process. He has some example scripts in the documentation. This is probably only for the command line ninjas among us (i.e. not me), but it looks like it could be very useful if you're the type that would rather type mkdir than hit Cmd + Shift + N.
ScriptExport is a free download.

We here at TUAW are big fans of Twitter, the simple web service that asks, 'What are you doing?' It is pointless, it is a time waster, but above all it is lots of fun. Gordon Meyer over at the Mac DevCenter seems to like Twitter as well, but he seems to be on a quest to make it useful. This article explains how he is using some home automation software, a dash of Applescript, and Twitter to enable his house to let him know when a number of things happen.

If you're hoping to go to WWDC on a student scholarship, time is running short. The WWDC scholarship offers a free ticket to WWDC with complete access to all tech sessions and special events, saving you somewhere in the neighborhood of $1600 (we previously wrote about the scholarship here). What's more, there's an all-day special event on the 10th of June just for student developers plus a career fair where you can meet hiring managers from many Mac development companies. The online application must be received by the 19th of March, i.e. any second now.
