- Swiss Macworld Expo Cancelled

Back in February we mentioned that Macworld Expo was coming to Switzerland. Unfortunately, German language Mac site macprime is reporting (German) that the show has been cancelled. It seems that not enough exhibitors were interested. Sorry, Swiss Mac-lovers, you're always welcome at WWDC or MWSF; according to Google Maps, you just have to "swim across the Atlantic Ocean."

Last year we pointed out GimmeSomeTune by Eternal Storms Software. It's an enhancement application for iTunes that lets you download lyrics and album cover art, displays track info in a floating window (much like Growl) and lyrics in a lyrics window. You can manage all of this (and more) with user-defined hotkeys or the built-in mini controller.
Today, Eternal Storms announces the availability of version 3.6. Changes include:
- Save the album cover art in the song's ID3 tag or in the song's folder, saving disk space.
- Lyrics-fetching is improved
- Cover art retreival extended to all Amazon stores (com, co.uk, de, ca, fr, jp).
- Various other bug fixes and improvements

Earlier this week, we mentioned that Alabama's very first Apple Store - in Birmingham - will finally open this coming Saturday the 14th. TUAW operative Jeremy saw our post and went down to the Summit Mall, camera in hand, and took this shot of workers revealing the store's facade. That's a cute display in the front window, though we thought the iPod shuffles were actually a lot smaller.

Here's a Mac 101 tip for you: want to quickly resize your Dock? Just move your mouse to the vertical bar on the right (or bottom) side of the Dock, where it splits between application icons and minimized windows/the Trash, and drag... up/right to biggify, down/left for enhanced shrinkitude. Fun for all ages! Click the image or here for a movie demo.

This past week's episode of the best thing on the radio, This American Life (available free via the podcast until Monday, then streaming or via audible.com) features longtime TAL contributor and 'PC' John Hodgman on the perks and perils of being a TV personality. Hodgman's segment, the first one on the hourlong show, features his observations and experience now that he's recognizable.
Best moment? His description of his rock star reception at the Apple Store Soho. Priceless.
