- JiveTalk offers nice IM for iPhone

The race to see who will rule IM on the iPhone has begun. Last week, Dave wrote about Meebo. It works, but has flaws (the buddy list is very far from the chat window for some reason, and the chat window can't be resized).
Today, I came across JiveTalk, which offers simultaneous login to AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, GoogleTalk, ICQ, and Jabber. The alpha release for iPhone worked pretty well during my brief testing.
The UI resembles iChat. I had multiple AIM conversations open, and a small notification window told me when the inactive conversation had received an update. Also, two "chat bubbles" at the top of the screen let me toggle between conversations.
It's alpha, as I said, but looks good so far. Check it out.

Canada's Best Buy* website has posted a page (littered with typographical and grammatical errors) that interested Canadian shoppers can use to sign up for email notification of iPhone availability. So, it looks like the iPhone will be available at Best Buy in Canada, once it launches.
Now someone get a copy editor on that ad, mmkay?
*Best Buy is a big box electronics store in the US and Canada.

If you've got a job that requires you to use MS Exchange, and have avoided the iPhone because of it, this may be of interest to you. IceWEB has announced that their hosted MS Exchange subscription service now supports the iPhone. Subscriptions start at $8.50US per month, and allow mobile users to send and receive Exchange email.
I haven't used Exchange, but I know that many people depend on it. Let's hope this will convince your IT department to get you an iPhone!

I have a confession to make: even though I was there at the iPhone launch, I haven't actually purchased an iPhone. Yes, I'm part of that supposedly small (though I think there are quite a few of us) group of Mac fans who have chosen not to shell out $2k over the next few years to own a little piece of the revolution.
But I still want to be on the cutting edge of the iPhone zeitgeist and that's why I think this little mashup is so cool. Reader ADM tells us that he's squeezed together Google Maps, Twitter, and Ning to bring you a geographic, browsable representation of what people are saying on Twitter about the iPhone. Now you too, even if you don't have an iPhone, can stay up to date about what people are saying and where they're saying it.
What's that? You don't care about the iPhone? And even if you do, you think something like this is completely silly and unnecessary? Touché. But ADM has also included the source code through Ning, so you're welcome to make your own mashup about whatever you want. Steve must have felt like taking a ride on the Gulf Stream last weekend, as he was spotted at London's Regent Street Apple Store on Sunday (according to ifoAppleStore). Of course, Steve's appearance immediately got people talking about the iPhone's debut in the UK. Consider that the Regent Street Concierge bar is scheduled to be closed next Monday, July 16th, and the rumors really start flying.

Marc from iSlayer sends word that they've updated the best little lava lamp widget ever: I Love Lamp is now at version 2.1.
New to this version is the ability to actually change the color of the "lava" and the "water" inside the lamp (which, in real life, is actually transparent oil and translucent wax-- the more you know), as well as a little extra optimization and a little more randomness. As before, you also have a few options for style and color of the lamp. I Love Lamp is sweet and a cool little addition to your dashboard-- get it for free from iSlayer.
