• Safari 3 heads-up: your widgets may break
  Friend-of-TUAW Steve Rubel tipped us that some widgets (Whois and Gmail among them) are broken after installing Safari 3 Beta. Since the new browser swaps out the WebKit framework that the widgets use to render HTML, this isn't entirely surprising, but keep an eye out if you do decide to run the new hotness. There are plenty of examples of troublesome widgets and more over at Apple's Safari discussion boards. Remember, 'beta' means 'may not work well, may not work at all, and might cause pain and suffering.'

• Uncle Walt has his iPhone

  The clock is ticking, folks: Walt Mossberg has his iPhone. At a speech for the Chronicle of Higher Education, Fake Steve's favorite technology writer pulled out his review unit to "oohs and ahs" and gave some preliminary impressions. With only a couple of hours of hands-on time, there were already pros and cons showing up; as far as the big question (the virtual keyboard) he noted, "In the first hour it works a little better than I thought, but I'm still not sure it works as well as a regular keyboard." Walt, fairminded journalist that he is, will be giving the iPhone a full workout leading up to a published review sometime around, I dunno, June 29.
  
  In case you missed it, the iPhone keyboard was a big point of contention amongst the fast-talking traders on CNBC's Fast Money tonight (seriously, these guys make Lorelai and Rory sound like half-speed recordings). Check out the appearance by our own talking head Scott McNulty as he tries to settle down these overcaffeinated market geeks. (Video requires registration and US residency, some sort of SEC regulation, yeah yeah lame we know working on it love ya mean it.)

• Apple offers 0% financing on 'the Mac of your dreams'

  If you've been waiting to order 'the Mac of your dreams,' perhaps a new 0% financing offer from Apple will be just what you need. Through June 30th, Apple Store customers who qualify for financing can purchase a Mac interest-free for 24 months. Oh, and Adobe Creative Suite 3 apparently goes well with Macs, so Apple's even allowing customers to lump a CS3 purchase (in addition to a Mac to begin with) into the no-interest financing deal.
  
  [Update: Woops, sorry guys. Turns out this is an offer targeted at business customers. This link should take you to more information at Apple's site, but commenters are right: there's a slight detail that Apple left out of the email to the tune of a minimum purchase amount of $5,000. I honestly don't know why I'm receiving emails from Apple that are aimed at business customers, but look on the bright side: most people's dream Mac probably costs nearly $5,000 anyway, right? Toss on Creative Suite 3 and you're basically there.

• More on rolling back from Safari 3 Beta

  For a few unfortunate folks (remember, everyone, 'beta' means 'may do you wrong') the Safari 3 Beta installation has gone seriously off the rails. Inability to run the browser, inability to run other Apple apps that depend on WebKit... here there be dragons. If you can't run the bundled uninstaller mentioned earlier, you might take some comfort from this thread at Apple Discussions which indicates that the original WebKit and JavaScript frameworks, along with the Safari 2 app, are stowed away in /Library/Application Support/Apple/.SafariBetaArchive.tar.gz (the leading . means the file won't show up by default in the Finder, but you can get at it from Terminal). Check out the posts for suggestions on how to roll back gracefully.

  Late word here at TUAW world headquarters: our fearless blogmeister Scott McNulty is scheduled to appear on CNBC's "Fast Money" tonight, discussing the fun and festivity surrounding WWDC. Top rumor sites hint that he may be wearing some sort of tropical attire, possibly a shirt with a floral pattern; we'll know soon. Good luck Scott!
