- App Store altered to ease app browsing
Apple has quietly modified the App Store to ease browsing for iPad and iPhone apps. Now when you enter the App Store, you'll see a split pill button at the top of the page. Clicking on the iPhone or iPad side will take you to the appropriate App Store for the device you selected. Previously, the iPhone and iPad apps were combined on one page with each of the Top Charts on the right-hand side of the store featured the split-pill iPhone-iPad button.
When you search for a non-universal app in the iTunes Store search field, the application will still only be listed under the "iPhone Apps" search results, even though it runs on both the iPhone and the iPad.TUAWApp Store altered to ease app browsing originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 22:00:00 EST. AppStore - iPhone - Apple - IPad - Unofficial Apple WeblogПереслать - Just got my iPad. Now what?
It's pretty clear that new iPad owners are hitting the app store in droves. Books, games and movies are all flying off the virtual shelves. Since you may be suffering from sensory overload, or just looking for some ideas, here are some things I've seen that might be worth a look.
I tried Time Magazine (U.S. $4.99) and Popular Science ($4.99) magazines on the iPad. The both look striking on the luscious iPad screen, but neither one really excited me enough to get me to subscribe. Time had nice use of video. Pop Sci looked stunning, but didn't have a lot of text. I think both magazines will need to come down below 5 bucks an issue to attract readers.
For news, I liked Reuters News Pro, the new NPR app and the New York Times Editors' Choice app. All are free, and make clever use of the screen and finger gestures. USA Today looks nice, but tends to crash and has some confusing navigation. Sometimes I clicked on one story and got another. I'll be patient with them, because they have some sharp coders and I know the app will quickly get better. Be aware that the USA Today app is free for now, but will cost money at some time in the future. The AP News app (free) is a bit of a mess. It has some clever ideas, but the stories are reduced to little thin strips and a lot of screen space is wasted. I don't want my news apps cute. I just want the news.
The Netflix app (free, but requires a Netflix subscription) is a major win. I tried a 2 week free trial, and the streaming movies look really good. The selection isn't always in line with my taste, but I'll probably sign up when the trial ends. Kudos to Apple for letting them in. They are certainly a movie competitor.

This is -- for me, personally -- one of the greatest unboxing videos I've ever seen. Not to oversell it, but the sheer simplicity of a self-unboxing iPad is beautiful. The complete lack of commentary (or even a human) makes it short enough that even my attention span, frazzled by years of short songs and too much sugar, can consider it a pleasure to sit all the way through.
In case you're wondering (and don't feel like watching, for whatever reason), it's a stop-motion animation, complete with a hovering X-ACTO blade, created by Brian Stark. Playtime with his new iPad was delayed for over an hour as he created this piece; he's suffered for his art, and for that, we commend him. IPad - Unofficial Apple Weblog - Video - Stop motion - AppleПереслать - What's in the iPhone 4.0?
Well, we didn't really expect this to come so soon after the iPad release, but sure enough, Apple is going to show us the iPhone 4.0 operating system this Thursday. That doesn't give us a lot of time for speculation, but I'm sure we'll squeeze it in. As per our reader expectations, various rumors and leaks, and other random news and scuttlebutt, what can we expect to see in a new iPhone OS?- Multitasking. Yup. If Apple's going to answer the naysayers, this is when it will happen. Of course, it will be done Apple's way (as we've heard, the new OS will probably still rely on notifications for most apps, and incorporate more of an "app-switching" idea rather than full multitasking), but the iPhone 4.0 will likely be able to run more than one third-party app at a time.
- A new home screen. This one's probably a little more of a guess, since Apple didn't mix up the home screen, even for its historic iPad. Though, since the iPhone is a smartphone, and since this is one of the most vocal complaints we've heard from actual users of the iPhone, a new screen of information would be very welcome.
- Better app management. With iPad and iPhone apps now out there, we've all got a lot of apps to deal with. From the longtime idea of "stacks" for apps, to the ability to remove official apps, to app gestures and navigation, the iPhone needs a better way to browse through apps, and it's likely that we'll see it this week.
- Landscape mode/switch. This one's a shot in the dark from me, but when you play with the iPad, one of the first things you notice is that it's able to adapt to any kind of usage situation; even when you turn it on the home screen, the icons adjust to the way that you want to use it, rather than the other way around.

We won't spoil this movie for your, but fortunately, the good folks over at Blendtec have wasted no time in answering the question that was on all of our minds as the iPad released last weekend. We can truly say that the video above does answer the question of whether or not the iPad will, in fact, blend.
We will also say that iPad lovers should probably look away, though this kind of destruction probably isn't any worse than other acts of iPad destruction. However, this guy is much more entertaining. I'm kind of amazed that, even after that first battering, you can still see the keyboard lit up on the screen. What happens when an object in motion meets an immovable object? Let me put that another way. Instead of "object in motion," think: "girl skiing." Instead of "immovable object," think "tree." The outcome? A big old "OUCH!", a number of broken bones, and quite a bit of time to be spent at the hospital.
Enter geek mom and an iPad. Speaking from (recent) experience, if you're going to get caught up at a hospital for hours and hours on end, with limited access to your home and office, you're not going to do much better than to bring along a few toys like the ones I have with me today.
Let me back up a moment. This morning, my laptop died. I'll get around to fixing it but when you're running to the hospital to make sure that you're there at the time you promised, and you were up until 2 the night before, and the laptop is dead, it's time to consider going commando with an iPad. Sure, you'll feel exposed and helpless. The comfort of a normal desktop unit cannot be matched by an iPad's apparently limited abilities.
Yet, I totally lucked out today. Between my iPad, wireless Apple Bluetooth keyboard, and a few other strategic goodies, I am actually able to get a little work done today between medical and Xbox consults. (The hospital has a built in Xbox gaming system. Guess who ends up doing IT support for the daughter and running back and forth to the volunteer library to pick out game titles?)TUAWMy ridiculously convenient iPad set-up originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 19:00:00 EST. Filed under: Macbook Pro
Hey, remember the MacBook? That big computer thingy that Apple used to make before the iPad and iPhone took over the world? You're not alone. Despite the hoopla over the iPad launch and the forthcoming iPhone OS 4.0 event, Apple isn't neglecting its larger portable lines -- MacBook and MacBook Pro updates are supposedly incoming later this month.
According to MacRumors, Taiwanese newspaper Apple Daily says the only reason the MacBook lines haven't already been updated is because of chip shortages from Intel. The same report claims that all MacBooks will be available with not only the newest Intel processors, but also up to 640 GB hard drives and 8-hour battery performance throughout the line.
The MacBook Pro line is long overdue for an update -- its last significant update was last June -- and I know of several people who have been holding off on a new purchase until the line is updated. With Apple the lone remaining major manufacturer yet to integrate Intel's newest i5 and i7 processors into their portables, the MacBook Pro has been a "wait to buy" prospect for at least three months now... and the people I've been talking to have been losing patience with the wait and eyeing up other manufacturers' devices. Hopefully this latest rumor bears some unibody aluminum fruit later this month, and I can tell my waiting friends and family members about the newest MacBook Pros instead of continuing to promise them that updates are coming "any day now" like I have been since January.TUAWRumor: MacBook updates coming later this month originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 18:45:00 EST. When Apple announced the iPad in January of this year I have to admit that my enthusiasm was rather tepid for the oddly-named device. Apple was proselytizing this notion of a hybrid "computer" of sorts that fit squarely between the iPhone/iPod touch and the MacBook. They used words like "magical" and "revolutionary" to describe what some called a stripped-down netbook and others referred to as a big iPod touch.
Still I couldn't help but think that a bigger version of what I already had in my pocket would be anything revolutionary -- let alone magical. I saw the keynote after Apple posted it, I checked out the different app previews from developers and nothing seemed to wet my whistle.

Apple - IPhone - IPad - Unofficial Apple Weblog - IpodTouchПереслать - Feel the heat with the Scoville app
Filed under: App Review
I'm a real chili-head. You know, one of those people who chomps on Habanero peppers and buys hot sauce by the case. So I was very interested in trying out the Scoville app (US $1.99) for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (which displays it in iPhone size or doubled mode).
Wilbur Scoville devised a test for the rating the strength or pungency of chili peppers in 1912. Ever since, Scoville scores of hot peppers are commonly bandied as bragging rights when trying to convince friends just how hot you can go before your head explodes. The Scoville app gives someone like me all the ammunition he needs as well as providing an encyclopedic amount of information on chilies.
The app is well laid out and easy to use. There are a number of options on the bottom of the screen. The first is a listing of chilies by Scoville units, including its picture, name and Scoville score. The Bell pepper has a score of 0, while the Naga Jolokia pepper can go as high as 1,041,427 units. Tapping on one gives you a large picture of the pepper in question as well as information on alternate names, size, growing location and just about anything else you would want to know. Of course that won't satisfy a chili-head, so the rest of the options are more specific. The next one sorts chilies alphabetically by name, with the letters of the alphabet on the right side of the screen, similar to that in the Contacts app, to make retrieval easier. Tap on the letter and you'll get to the requested first letter.TUAWFeel the heat with the Scoville app originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 18:00:00 EST. iPhone - Apple - IPad - IPod Touch - iPodПереслать - Rumor: Apple buys Intrinsity
Filed under: Apple
We've heard a few times now that Apple was ready to pick up some smaller, innovative hardware companies, and the rumor mill now says that chipmaker Intrinsity was purchased by Apple late last week. Rumors first hit on April 1st about the company being sold to a bigger buyer, and on Friday at least one employee was saying the buyer was in fact Apple. There's still no official word of a sale, as far as we can tell, but maybe Apple is waiting for a certain press conference to reveal that a new company will be providing chips for future, oh I don't know, iPhones.
Intrinsity certainly fits the bill for the kind of company that Apple would want to buy with all its cash -- it's behind some of the fastest mobile processors out there, and that's certainly what Apple is looking for. It's also unencumbered by other ownership (which means Apple can pick it up outright), and it's got that nice mix of innovation and quality that Apple usually looks for.
In short, even before the event on Thursday, we can probably expect to see Intrinsity behind some of Apple's processors in the future -- if they haven't made a few already.

When it comes to remote control apps for Apple devices, LogMeIn seems to be taking the lead. Their namesake application, LogMeIn for Mac, has been available for quite some time in free and paid versions, and the company came out with an iPhone app -- LogMeIn Ignition (US$29.99)-- last year.
The company has also announced development of a Hamachi app for the Mac platform. Just before the iPad dropped on Saturday, TUAW received word that the LogMeIn app had been updated to take advantage of the new platform. Current users of LogMeIn Ignition just need to update the app and download it to their iPads for it to work as a native iPad app.
LogMeIn Ignition provides a simple way to control one or more remote Macs from an iPad or iPhone. You simply install the LogMeIn software on any Mac or PC you wish to control, and then log into it from LogMeIn Ignition on the mobile device.
How does it work? Pretty good. In fact, this entire post was written on an iPad that was controlling the iMac in my office. Controlling the Mac screen is simple. Your finger controls the location of the Mac cursor on the Mac screen. A single tap is a click, a double-tap is a double-click, etc... An unobtrusive tool bar at the top or bottom of the screen provides access to the keyboard and Control, Alt, and Command keys.TUAWFirst look: LogMeIn Ignition on iPad originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 17:00:00 EST. IPhone - Apple - LogMeIn - IPad - MacПереслать - Why I didn't buy an iPad
Filed under: iPad
Guest blogger B. Imei Hsu lays out the case over on Chris Pirillo's blog for "Why you don't want an iPad" -- she takes a few guesses at why you, dear Apple fan, may not have bought Apple's magical and revolutionary device this past weekend. She's actually a little venomous -- not only is there a bit of harsh language in there, but according to her, you're probably in denial or clueless about what the iPad actually is. Thanks for that, Ms. Hsu.
Fortunately, I'm in a good position to answer this one -- I'm a lead editor on a major (unofficial) Apple weblog, and no, I didn't buy an iPad. Why not? Not because of any of the iPad's faults -- I got to play with one for an extended amount of time at an Apple Store on Saturday (there was a line building up behind me, and the Geniuses were starting to give me weird looks), and I think it's an amazing device. It feels solid and perfect, it runs even faster than I expected, and that display is just terrific. It makes apps, e-books, and the web look beautiful, and save for a few quirks with the keyboard (I often lay my fingers on the keys while thinking of what to write, and you can't have any stray touches on the iPad's keyboard), I think it's just as amazing as promised.
But I don't have "a problem with desire," I'm not asking "the wrong questions," I don't "hate change," and I'm not envious. Ok, maybe I am a little envious, but not by choice at all. Honestly, I didn't buy an iPad this weekend because so far, I just don't need one.TUAWWhy I didn't buy an iPad originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 16:30:00 EST. Given that the iPad is pretty close to an extra-large Moleskine cahier, it'll make a great cover if you want your iPad to blend in with a bag with other notebooks and books. Pair it with a drawing app, such as Adobe Ideas, to give your iPad the ultimate "Moleskine" experience.

Unofficial Apple Weblog - IPad - San Francisco - Apple - MoleskineПереслать - Wanted: App reviewers for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch
Filed under: TUAW Business
TUAW is looking for a few good iPad app reviewers, and we're not leaving iPhone or iPod touch users out of the game, either. We pay for reviews (although not for the apps themselves) and we're looking to increase our dedicated app review coverage. To start, read this entire post and follow the directions. We'll call that Test #1.
What we're looking for:- A good grasp of the English language. Stuff like the difference between "its" and "it's" and the ability to present a cogent argument for why you like or dislike something are mandatory. We're going to assume your application is the best example of your writing, but we don't want the worst to be a long journey into the land of bad grammar and typos.
- Able to work. You must be 18 years old or over, preferably in the US, but if you're overseas you'll need a bank account capable of receiving wire transfers so we can pay you.
- Punctuality -- because if we need something posted ASAP, we mean it.
- Passion for detail. The advantage most bloggers bring to the table is a passion for their subject. You may read TUAW because you love Apple products, but can you name the 10 reasons why Apple makes a better MP3 player? You have to consider all the angles before writing a review or you'll wind up missing the point sometimes.
- Living, breathing, witty humans to write ONLY app reviews and consider a specific beat, like music or games. What we need are dedicated app reviewers to help us review some of the amazing (or bad) apps out there. If you can specialize, we can throw as much at you as you can handle.

iPhone - IPad - Apple - iPhone Dev-Team - JailbreakПереслать - Apple played favorites with iPad access
Filed under: Apple
Boing Boing's Rob Beschizza has an insightful look at something that no one's really noticed yet: Apple definitely played favorites when it came to sharing the iPad.
Here's the list of outlets and writers that got access to the iPad for an early review. You'll note that Boing Boing is on there, as is PC Magazine. Engadget and Gizmodo (along with TUAW, though we got one anyway) are not. Time is on there, Newsweek is not. Clearly, Apple's being careful about who's given access, and there's no one reason why an outlet might be on the list or not.
And it might be even more confusing than that -- Fake Steve Jobs (a.k.a. writer Dan Lyons) tells a story about how Apple sent word out that they were unhappy about Newsweek officially hiring him after the FSJ reveal. Apple isn't just controlling access -- they're doing their best to control the entire media perception of the company.
One thing that Beschizza doesn't mention (he goes on to gloat a little about Boing Boing's history with Apple) is that, in those first few days of iPad app reveals, it was pretty clear which developers had gotten an iPad early. Firemint, PopCap, MLB, EA -- there are hundreds of thousands of developers on the App Store, and Apple came to only a few to offer them a development iPad to play with early.
Unfortunately, again, we'll never know the criteria for selection there other than Apple's whims (and I presume the whole thing is wrapped so tightly in an NDA that we won't even know when and how the offers were made), so we don't have a full picture of what access was offered and how. But there's no question that Apple made specific choices about how and where to send the iPad -- some people and companies got in, lots didn't.TUAWApple played favorites with iPad access originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 15:00:00 EST. Apple - IPad - Steve Job - Unofficial Apple Weblog - App StoreПереслать - Quick review of Apple's overpriced iPad case
Filed under: iPad
This is going to be a quick review because we don't review cases that often -- there are simply too many! However, Apple seems quite proud of their case for the iPad, so I wanted to touch upon my early impressions. No torture test this time as we'll give this guy away, but below are some notable aspects of the sleeve.
The material is soft and rubbery, not unlike neoprene but denser and quite durable. Nail scratches didn't seem to faze it, but anything white or gray will appear quite brilliantly because the surface is black. Really, really black -- like the ship in 'Restaurant At the End of the Universe' black. The seams appear to be held together by some heat-sealing or glue, but in time they could conceivably come apart. There's some flexible plastic around the part of the sleeve that holds the edges of the iPad, however, and I mashed on the seams a bit and the rubber/plastic just stretched, so the seam appears quite sturdy. That extra plastic ensures a snug fit around the bezel and keeps the iPad from shifting. There's a stiffer piece of plastic for the cover (which folds back to become a base) which I was able to bend over 45 degrees without worry. It is sturdy and flexible, perhaps magical too?
Finally there's a little flap that holds the iPad in, just inside the part that will be folding over and back repeatedly. This is the one fail point, in my opinion. There's no real remedy other than some mechanical hinge, but the hinged portion of this case will just keep flexing until the materials wear out. That will likely be 4 iPad revisions from now, but there it is. The iPad took a bit of squeezing the first time, but once you figure out that even pressure is required on both sides of the pad you won't be regretting that dock you bought. While it could be easier to remove the iPad from the sleeve, it would make it flimsier too, I think.
The only downsides to this case, aside from the hefty $39 price tag are the unavoidables: it isn't waterproof (Apple doesn't really do waterproof cases) and many apps (iPhone and iPad) are lessened by the angle of repose this case provides. In other words, if you fold the cover back to the intended angle for resting the iPad on your lap, many iPhone apps that rotate will be upside-down, or at the wrong angle for comfort. There are even some iPad apps (Game Table, for one) that aren't rotating in that direction! That's a bummer, but not really Apple's fault. I see an uptick in Otterbox case sales for iPad, if you happen to be an avid reader at the beach. Either way, you will want a case for you iPad. If you can spare the nearly 40 bucks, get this one. It'll last at least until they move a switch 30cm and make it obsolete.
To see some close-ups of the case in various seated positions, plus seams and build quality check out the gallery below. To see how to get the iPad in and out of the sleeve, check out the video on the next page.

This little tidbit was hidden in the rush of iPad news last week, but if you check out the iTunes App Store, you'll notice that Apple has started promoting an official iPhone and iPad App of the Week (presumably every week from now on).
They're not diving very deep to find apps for this one (MLB At Bat 2010 is the iPad app, and We Rule is the iPhone choice -- both of those hardly need any more promotion), but since we've heard from developers that Apple promotion really can make or break an app, the addition of another app spotlight can only mean good things for those apps.
Critical Thought's David Whatley made this point well at GDC a few weeks ago -- he said that niche outlets (like our own little blog right here) covered his app first, which then gained the attention of Apple, who then promoted it in the App Store as "new and notable" and on the top paid charts. That then led to mainstream attention, which of course led up to major sales numbers. In short, the more Apple promotes apps, the more they sell. And that's why an "App of the Week" promotion like this can mean a lot to the right developers. MLB doesn't really need the extra spotlight, but getting a slot in the new App of the Week spot could make the careers of quite a few smaller developers out there.TUAWApple adds App of the Week to the App Store originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 14:00:00 EST. iPhone - Unofficial Apple Weblog - IPad - App Store - AppleПереслать - Some iPad owners experience Wi-Fi connection issues
Filed under: iPad
Many iPad customers spent the weekend playing with their new devices, and several reported iffy Wi-Fi performance.
One thread on Apple's Discussion Boards describes a weak or inconsistent signal. "My signal keeps fluctuating from strong to weak, while my MacBook and iPhone show a consistent signal at the same location," writes user Andrew79. Another user writes, "Even when standing in front of the wlan router the signal fluctuates from strong to very weak."
I've experienced this myself. However, when my iPad's signal strength indicator fluctuated between one bar and four, it never lost a connection. So I'm inclined to believe that it's reporting the signal strength incorrectly, not actually dropping off and on.
Users in another thread report that their iPads connect, but can't get an address to get out to the net. " My iPad connects to my wifi without a problem," one user writes, "but the only site I can visit is my access point's web interface. I can't even get to my router's interface from the iPad. All my other devices (touch, laptops, Roku) can access the Internet without a problem."
I haven't had this particular issue. If you're having trouble, consult the iPad User Guide [PDF]. Specifically page 117. Otherwise, sound off in the comments and Discussion Boards.

My solution was found in this video that showed me that I had to totally get my iMac to forget the keyboard before it could be paired to another device.
Obvious? Well maybe to many, but not to me. This video by huskermania walks you through it simply and elegantly.TUAWFound Footage: How to connect an iPad to your existing wireless keyboard originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 12:00:00 EST. Apple - IPad - Unofficial Apple Weblog - Wireless - BluetoothПереслать - Young customer receives iPad demo from Steve Jobs
Filed under: iPad
When Steve Jobs visited the Palo Alto Apple Store on University Avenue last Saturday, he did more than observe the sale of iPads. He gave one attendee a personal demo.
And she was just a kid.
Cédric Lignier shared the experience of watching Jobs demo the iPad for his daughter via Twitter: "Met Steve Job @ Palo Alto today! [He] demoed the iPad 2 her daughter. Unbelievable!" He also snapped this great photo of Jobs leaving the store.
Jonathan Ive also showed up to purchase a couple of iPads, and Woz even waited in line. Sure, none of them had to shop like "the rest of us," but it's nice that they did (even if it was just for the publicity).TUAWYoung customer receives iPad demo from Steve Jobs originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 11:00:00 EST. Steve Job - IPad - Apple - Unofficial Apple Weblog - TwitterПереслать - Official: Apple sells more than 300K iPads on day one
Filed under: iPad
Apple announced this morning that it sold more than 300,000 iPads on opening day. The comprehensive number includes pre-order pickups, deliveries to channel partners and walk-in sales at Apple Stores. Additionally, customers went home and downloaded more than 1,000,000 apps (oh, it's on) and 250,000 ebooks.
As Steve Jobs notes in the press release, the average owner downloaded about 3 iPad apps and 1 book on Saturday. Selling 300,000+ iPads in 24 hours is impressive, but a far cry of Munster's latest estimate of 700,000. Yet, it's right on target with his initial guess: between 200,000 and 300,000. Note that "deliveries to channel partners" means that Apple still counts unit sales for any unsold inventory that's at Best Buy or other authorized resellers.
By comparison, the iPhone 3G and 3GS sold one million units in three days and the first iPhone sold one million units in 74 days.TUAWOfficial: Apple sells more than 300K iPads on day one originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 10:00:00 EST. Unofficial Apple Weblog - Apple - IPhone - Steve Jobs - IPadПереслать - Adobe releases Adobe Ideas for iPad
Filed under: iPad
Just because Adobe can't have Flash on the iPad doesn't mean that they want to miss out on the Apple tablet bandwagon. Adobe has released a pretty cool app called Adobe Ideas. Adobe Ideas is a sketchbook for the iPad. The app features vector-based drawing tools, zoom control, sizable brushes, layers, and the ability to email PDF documents for editing in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
While Adobe Ideas isn't as feature-rich as Brushes for iPad, it is a free app that starving artists will appreciate (though, if you've bought an iPad, I don't think you technically count as a "starving" artist). Brushes for iPhone was used by Jorge Colombo to paint a cover of The New Yorker.
It's going to be cool to see how artists start embracing the iPad and its larger screen with apps like these. Picasso may have had his Moleskine (may have), but the next great artists might just be sketching their budding visions on the iPad.TUAWAdobe releases Adobe Ideas for iPad originally appeared on The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) on Mon, 05 Apr 2010 09:00:00 EST. iPhone - Apple - IPad - Adobe Illustrator - Adobe SystemsПереслать - Jonathan Ive buys a couple of iPads
Filed under: iPad
Steve Jobs wasn't the only one paying a visit to an Apple Store on iPad launch day. Jonathan Ive, Apple's top industrial designer, was snapped buying two of his own products at an Apple Store on April 3rd. It's not clear which store the above pictures were taken in, but you can clearly see the form of two iPad boxes in the bag.
What's the iPad's number two creator doing buying a toy that he helped create? Some might joke that Apple is cheap. Some might say it's a move for more free publicity (like the iPad needs any more free publicity). Me? I'm chalking it up to professional courtesy and class. Support your product in all the ways that you can; get out there to get a buzz off of the excitement you've helped create, and use that buzz to funnel your energy into making the next version even better.
I've got one more image for you below. It's a shot of Steve Jobs during his visit to the Palo Alto Apple Store.
