Cha-Ching is a fantastic app, one of the very best out there for simply and elegantly managing your money on the Mac. I use it all the time! Erm... well, I would use it all the time, if I had any money to manage. No reason you can't enjoy manipulating your money with this great app though!
Version 0.5.1 brings mostly bug fixes, but bug fixes are important in beta apps, where a single bug sometimes mean a broken feature. Fixes include:
- .Mac uploading issues.
- Startup crash when iPod is connected.
- Interface bugs.
- QIF importing.

Ok, so MPEG Streamclip certainly isn't new but it's such a solid piece of software that I feel like I just need to give it a random mention. I broke it out for the first time in a few months the other day, and I was instantly reminded of how much I really appreciate this software's versatility. MPEG Streamclip is a video encoding application for converting to, and from, a boatload of different formats including: MPEG, MOV, DV, MP4, AVI, and others. You can convert raw Final Cut Pro video files (my most often used function), demux VOB files, and easily export screenshots. And it supports DivX, WMV, and FLV with the necessary components, in addition to all of the other standard formats.
The software is along the same vein as ffmpegX, but the somewhat 'easier' nature of MPEG Streamclip is what really makes it shine. Encoding settings are a-plenty and easily tweakable, plus the software is quick, too. Anyway, if you're looking for a complete video encoding package for exporting Final Cut projects, or want to make some quick MP4s for your iPod, or whatever it is you might want to do with the video lying around on your hard drive, MPEG Streamclip is a fine option for your video tinkering and encoding needs. Here's a chuckle from the forums over at MacRumors. Poster GFLPraxis, who works at the Spokane CompUSA, scanned this advertisement tag for the new Zune special. For only $249.99, you'll not only get a spankin' new Zune but also a $15 iTunes Gift Card. Now that's an inducement to buy the Zune! If only Apple would license FairPlay. Although these tags should reflect what's printed in the circulated advertisements, this one didn't quite match. It was caught by the store manager, who passed it around the store for laughs.

I found this OS X trash primer over at YouTube in the new video listings. For many of you readers this is going to be old news--how to throw away locked or busy files--but for those of you who are new to OS X and the Macintosh, you may appreciate the basic how-to steps that the video offers. You don't actually need a third-party product to dispose of an application, but many OS X users like to keep their systems clean and tight.

For a very brief time today, Joost opened up to Mac Alpha seeding. They filled their download quota within minutes. Joost nèe "The ViennaVenice[1] Project", if you're not familiar with it, offers high quality free online streaming video channels. It's from the people who brought us Skype and it's fast, clean and watchable. The good news is that next week the "final proper public beta" goes live for OS X users, although I believe it will be limited to Intel CPUs.
Keep checking in at the Joost site, and if you're one of the lucky 200 who got in early let us know in the comments how it's going.
