Because You Love Animals

Hello,

Since you are an animal lover, we've been asked to send you this article by trisha2007@yahoo.com.

PHOENIX/MESA - A local no-kill animal shelter may be forced to actually put some pets down.

The shelter survives on private donations and our troubling economy is painting a troubled future for their cats and dogs. Nearly 100 animals are getting a second chance at Desert Paws Rescue in Arizona.

The sanctuary takes in special needs cats and dogs. The shelter may be closing its doors due to a lack of funding.

To save money workers and volunteers are making some sacrifices. Even though it's only March, the temperatures in Phoenix can becaome extreme. One employee tells 3TV, "We're trying to cut back on utilities, certainly not for the animals. because the animal buildings are heated and air conditioned.  They will not go without. Our offices will go without."

Meanwhile employees and volunteers say they pray the money will come.

"Even if you can only spare $5.00 it could mean the difference between life or death for these precious animals.  Your gift could give a loving cat or dog the chance to find a forever home instead of being destroyed."
